Curium will merge with Lantheus, in an arrangement where Lantheus falls under the umbrella of Curium’s United States wholly-owned subsidiary. Combining Lantheus share prices with potential commercial achievements through 2030, the transaction could be worth up to $8 billion.
Together, the two parties will create a unified radiopharmaceutical company covering diagnostics and therapeutics, particularly in oncology, where Curium specializes. Curium and Lantheus say they mutually have the infrastructure and capabilities to serve patients in more than 70 countries.
“Lantheus is the ideal partner to accelerate what we have been building at Curium,” Curium Group CEO Renaud Dehareng said. “We have executed a strategy to build an innovative theranostics platform by expanding our global manufacturing footprint … Lantheus’ complementary business accelerates our strategy with a robust U.S. commercial infrastructure. [This] marks our entry in the U.S. market for diagnostic solutions targeting neurology and echocardiography … This combination unlocks an opportunity that neither company could achieve alone.”
Lantheus Executive Chair and CEO Mary Anne Heino called the transaction the “ultimate validation” of Lantheus’ seven decades in radiopharmaceuticals.
“Combining strategically with Curium brings together two pioneers with complementary strengths and a shared passion for nuclear medicine,” Heino said. “Together, we can broaden and accelerate patient access to life-changing diagnostics and therapeutics and fully realize differentiated outcomes … This combination is the best path forward for our shareholders, our employees, and the millions of patients we serve.”
The joining of Curium and Lantheus plans to span the full nuclear medicine value chain. This runs from isotope production and manufacturing to diagnostic imaging and targeted radionuclide therapy.
Both companies expect the transaction to officially close in the first half of 2027.
